The USS SSN-21 Seawolf Submarine is a modern day submarine that it currently used by the US Navy as their main underwater mode of both attack and defense. It was launched in 1997 and has the capacity to carry multiple torpedoes on board. Based in Naval Base Kitsap in Washington, it has seen much service in its life. This includes deployments to the Gulf as well as missions around various other parts of the world. Now fans of this iconic and modern submarine can buy a range of different kits with which they can recreate the machine on a much smaller scale!

One of the most popular models is the one made by Bronco – a long established and highly rated company. The kit is to 1/350 scale and comes in many different pieces, with the added bonus of the inclusion of a classy display stand for the finished model. It also includes great Cartograf waterslide decals, to add to the highly detailed finish. As with most submarine models, painting is kept to minimum due to the predominantly gray color of the real life replica.

For those that love the look of this submarine but are not keen on the idea of building one for themselves, there is always the option of buying a readily completed model. The model of the Seawolf comes attached to a high quality wooden base, complete with two bronze holders to keep it sturdy. Although the price is higher than the kit above, the finish is superb and would gracefully adorn any fanatic’s shelf.

There are various other models that can be bought of this sub – including a 1/750 scale one made by Hobby Boss – but the two described above are most certainly the best that money can buy. The real life machine truly is a sight to behold, and a replica will please any avid fan.

The Russian Akula submarine has been at the forefront of Russia’s naval capabilities since 1986, when it was first deployed. There are currently eight in service, with another one currently being prepared to be sold to the Indian Navy. There were three different classes of the submarine – built between 1982 and 1991 – all of which showed significant modifications whilst also retaining the potency and effectiveness of the original design. It carries a full arsenal of torpedoes and surface-to-air missiles, as well as being nuclear powered. It is thought that these submarines are soon to be replaced, with the Graney class submarine currently being under development.

Fans of naval military models are now able to purchase the Russian Akula submarine, so that they can build a scale replica at their leisure. With the important role that it is played in post-Cold War relations with the world, this model is a must for any enthusiast.

Dumas are one of the main creators of models in the world and their version of the Akula is one of the best out there. The completed model has a fully functioning motor and can be used in water as a toy or to show off to other enthusiasts! It is 33 inches long, making it very large for a model kit, and is also made from wood instead of the usual plastic pieces. Any person who buys this will be delighted by it!

There are also other models available to buy on a smaller scale and with a lower price tag. Various companies make traditional model kits, where the end product is a plastic replica, usually in about 1/700 scale. These are far easier to build than the Dumas model, although not all of them have the ability to work underwater! They will also require a lot of painting, which is often the reason why many collectors love them so much!

This German submarine was used during the Second World War, having initially been commissioned in 1938 by the German Navy. It was designed to be an improvement on the Type IX U-Boat, with this craft actually inspiring many of the features of the U-IXB. In total the Germans created 14 of these craft, of which all were destroyed before the War’s end. Only one – the U-123 – was ever used again, as it was rebuilt as the French submarine Blaison.

The German U-IXB submarine was heavily armed and made a formidable opponent, often needing multiple enemy ships to sink them. They had 22 torpedoes and six torpedo tubes, as well as a deck gun and aircraft guns. They also held up to 56 crew members, who were all needed to man the incredible amount of armaments!

All fans of naval history – especially during the period of the Second World War – will love the kit Bronco Models 1/350 German Long Range Submarine Type U-IXB kit, which is one of the best on the market. It combines fantastic details with an easy assembly that ensures that it is great for modelers of all abilities. It contains all of the pieces – including photo-etched parts – that are needed for completion.

Another great model kit for this type of submarine is made by Nichimo. At 1/200 scale it is bigger than the Bronco Models kit, but retains all of the detail and impressive quality, as well as coming at a great price! At skill level 2 it is also suitable for modelers of every ability.

The final model submarine available is the 1/700 U-Boat Type IXB U-124, Easy Model, which is made by MRC. This model is probably the best looking of all the models and comes with its own impressive display stand, so that it can be shown off to everyone who visits.

The Russian SSNG Kursk submarine was named after a city in Russia were many fierce battles took place during the first world war. The Kursk submarine is one of the many masterpieces of engineering in the Russian navy because it is one of the biggest attack submarines in its class having a length of 154 meters. The Kursk submarine is a nuclear powered attack submarine and is classified as an Oscar II class (a NATO reporting name). This submarine was launched in 1994 and was commissioned on December of that year in Russia. The special characteristic of this submarine is a thick outer hull, made of 8.5 millimeter stainless steel, which has a high nickel and chrome component. Having a high nickel and chrome component in the hull provides a weaker magnetic signature thereby making it hard to detect through MAD (Magnetic Anomaly Detection) systems.

The people at Tamiya, a Japanese company famous for making models of cars and boats, have made a well crafted model of the Russian Kursk submarine. Since the founding of this great company by Yoshio Tamiya in 1946, they have made thousands of amazing models and toys, that are constructed out of wood, plastic, and metal. The people at Tamiya made the Kursk submarine model as simple as possible so that even a beginner in toy models will have an easy time assembling it. Even though the design is straightforward and simple it still emphasized on details that made the toy model closely resemble the actual design of the submarine.

The scale of the model made by Tamiya is 1:700, with a dimension of 11.4 inches by 4.3 inches by 1.2 inches. The model size is perfect for beginning collectors since assembling the toy model can be done with ease. The Kursk submarine model is made of durable plastic which is highly resilient, and will surely last long if it is well taken cared of.

If you are an experienced model collector or a beginning hobbyist, the Russian SSNG Kursk Submarine is an ideal model to collect. If you are new to model ships and subs, the Kursk sub is a great choice to start your career as a model hobbyist since it only requires a skill level of 2.

For experienced hobbyists, acquiring this model for your collection is a must have because of the submarine’s importance in Naval history. It will also provide you with a finely crafted model to show off to your friends and acquaintances.

The Japanese I-361 class submarine or the “Gata Sensuikan” was an arsenal of the Imperial Japanese Navy during the World War II. The I-373 was an upgrade of the I-361 class, so most of the features of the earlier model of submarine can also be found on the later model. The other names of the Imperial Japanese Navy for their following boats are: I-361 – the Sen-yo, or the transport submarine, I-372 – Sen-yukai, or the modified transport submarine, and the I-373, or the Tei-gata kai, also another name for the modified type transport submarine. The need of the Imperial Japanese Navy to make a mode of safe transport during battle, for their great arsenal became imminent after the Battle of Midway. Their target was to transport a number of troops and vehicles to the area of the enemy which has superior air support, and try to destroy it.

Because it was intended for transport, the first submarines of the Imperial Japanese Navy were not equipped with torpedoes. But since the effectivity of submarines to pass the waters with out being detected (sonar during that time were not yet developed), they decided to put torpedoes in their submarines and make it as an attack submarine). The Hasegawa company, makers of car, ship models, have created a perfectly designed model of the Japanese I-361/171 submarine model. This company have concentrated their production in the Naval forces of the Japanese Navy during the 2nd world war.

The Hasegawa submarine model has a 1:700 scale, and the package comes with a spruce tree stand. The model package has small parts that is why it is intended only for childrens 10 years of age and up. Glue for connecting of the parts and paint for its color is needed for the completion of the model submarine.

A naval model collection will not be complete without the I-361 in your collection. It represented the advancements in submarine design within the Japanese Imperial Navy during the second World War and it has been instrumental in some historically significant events. Any enthusiast and hobbyist would surely want one of these in their collection!
The targets of this German U-boats were mostly merchant ships that transport supplies by the United States of America to Great Britain during the war.

The German U-boats became one of the most popular weapons of the 2nd World War because of the damage that it can do even to ships many times larger than its size. Although it was an effective war instrument it had technological drawbacks that were not addressed at that time. A limitation of the design of this submarine is that they spend more fuel when they travel underwater due to a higher consumption of electricity so they need to travel most of the time in the surface to use the cheap diesel fuel.

The Hasegawa company of Japan, makers of ships and car models, has created a detailed model of the German U-boat 7c-9c submarine. The first models made by the people of Hasegawa were mostly cars and ships made in their home town, but they later ventured into making models of vehicles made from other countries.

The model measures 4.25 inch, and is scaled 1:700. The body of the submarine model is made up of quality plastic. The package can be assembled in two (2) versions. The glue needed for the joining of the pieces of the model and the paint needed for its design, are not included in the package. You can find many distributors of this submarine model online, where they offer promos on shipping charges. The price range of the German U-boat 7c-9c submarine model are from $7 to $9. After purchasing on line, the processing time takes 2-3 days, and your package may arrive at least 1 week after the order was made.

Anyone who knows naval history understands the impact that the German U-boat had during the First and Second World War. A German U-boat model carries with it the distinction that this model is modeled after and is a great addition to any model collection.

The Sea wolf class submarines, where the USS Jimmy Carter SSN23 belongs, are the larger submarines of the US Navy. This submarine class are much more quieter undersea, and carries much more weapons compared to the other submarine class of the US Navy. This submarine class carries 8 torpedoes, compared to a lesser number in other submarine classes. Although the SSN23 is superior to other submarine classes in most features, it also has its downside. The construction of this submarine class is much more expensive compared to the other classes which limited the number of submarines produced in this class. This submarine class was made to match the Russian submarines equipped with nuclear ballistic missiles.

The Sea wolf submarine class, like the USS Jimmy Carter, was constructed using high grade HY-100 steel, not like the other submarine class were the inferior HY-80 steel was used. The HY-100 type of steel was perfect for the Sea wolf class submarine in withstanding great pressures of the deeper waters. This was the first submarine class that is nuclear powered, this made them capable of staying underwater for a long time before their next refueling. Another unique feature of this submarine class is its floodable silo, wherein the submarine is capable of deploying eight combat swimmers including their equipment in a suitable depth for the soldiers to survive.

Hobby Boss, makers of well crafted ship models, created a detailed model of the USS Jimmy Carter SSN233 submarine. This company have been making quality toy models for several years already. The model made by Hobby Boss has a 1:700 scale to the original submarine. This assembly is intended for the beginner level for collectors. The total weight of the model package is around 2.2 kilos. Try to search all the available internet sites that offer this special submarine model in order to avail of their latest discounted prices and their promos on delivery charges.

The USS Jimmy Carter is the progenitor of the hi-tech modern ballistic submarines and they were the top of the line, state of the art vehicles in their time. Any naval enthusiast and model hobbyist would enjoy having one of this models in their collection so you should get one too!

The HMS Triumph S93 is one of the Trafalgar class submarines of the British Royal Navy. This submarine class is an upgrade of the previous Swiftsure class submarines. This submarine was constructed by the Vickers Shipbuilding and Engineering Limited, a company which is involved in shipbuilding in England, and was launched last February of 1991. The HMS Triumph hold the record for the longest deployment of a submarine by traveling 41,000 miles underwater without surfacing.

The Trafalgar class new improvements are its new reactor core and the modern type 2020 sonar. The HMS Triumph also has stronger fins and has refractable hydro planes which are absent in its predecessor. This feature of the Trafalgar class submarines makes them capable of surfacing in areas with thick ice. The submarines hull is made up of the special anechoic tiles which has a characteristic of absorbing sound waves, which makes this submarine very difficult to be detected by SONAR. Model maker, the Cyber Bros., made a well crafted model of the HMS Triumph, which also includes the model of the HMS Newcastle Destroyer D87. This package belongs to the Orange Box range of models of the manufacturer. This are the first batch of model toys that Orange box is starting to offer.

The model package comes in a detailed plastic model kit, which includes 2 kits in one box (one for the boat, and one for the submarine), and is made easy to assemble with its detailed instruction manual. The model has a scale of 1:700, and has a dimension of 7 inches by 1.5 inch by 2 inches, and is weighing 7.2 ounces. The manufacturer of this model recommends this only for children 14 years of age and above. These ship models can be constructed as models that are standing separately or can be set as an impressive diorama.

The British HMS Triumph is a great addition to any model collection and together with the HMS Newcastle Destroyer model they become an invincible pair that most enthusiasts will agree upon.

The USS Balao SS285 was the lead Balao-class submarine of the US Navy during the 2nd world war. This submarine was launched last October 27, 1942. It was commanded by Lt. Commander Richard H. Crane and was under the United States Pacific Fleet. There were 122 other submarines that belong to the Balao class. This class was a much more improved class of submarines compared to the earlier Gato-class. The Balao-class became famous as part of the submarine group that sunk one of the biggest ships in Naval history, the Japanese Aircraft Carrier “Shinano,” which weighed approximately 59,000 tons.

One of the very important improvements that was done to the Balao class was the use of a higher yield strength steel in the submarine body, which made these improved submarine able to dive at a much greater depth. This submarine class is powered by diesel and electric engines. Engines of the Balao-class were made by two reputable engine manufacturers in the United States, the Fairbanks-Morse which supplied the opposed piston engines, and the General Motors Electro-Motive Diesel Engines which supplied the V16 engines of the submarines. The earlier submarine class had a very noisy engine which made them very easy to detect using hydrophones. The newer Balao-class had low speed double armature motors, which are connected to the shaft directly, resulting into a quieter engine design.

Hobby Boss, makers of quality toy models, have made a well crafted submarine model of the USS Balao SS285. This company is based in China and has been making model toys for almost several years already.

The dimension of the submarine model is 12 inches by 6 inches by 2 inches, and has a scale of 1:700. The total shipping weight of the model package is about 12 ounces. The model package includes a complete recessed panel lines, a display stand, decals, and an instruction manual for ease in assembling of your model submarine.

The USS Balao is a wonderful addition for any model aficionado. It carries a historical significance in naval warfare as one of the submarines deployed against the Shinano aircraft carrier of the Japanese navy during World War II and will be a great centerpiece for discussions regarding that event in history.
